Ejisu by election: Wait For Outcome Of Thorough Investigations By EC - Dr. Quaicoe To Ghanaians

The Director of Electoral Services of Ghana, Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, has called on Ghanaians to desist from making their judgment until the commission thoroughly investigates the alleged bribery allegations that took place during the Ejisu by-elections.

The EC, in a letter signed by the Deputy Chairman in charge of operations, Mr. Samuel Tetteh, had stated that two temporary officials of the Electoral have been withdrawn from conducting the by elections over an alleged electoral malpractice.

According to the official report from the EC, there was a video circulating on social media which saw a voter, handing over a white envelope to the officials of the electoral commission.

Mr. Samuel Tetteh noted that, the incident took place at the Fumesua Church of Pentecost Polling station.

Information gathered by Peacefmonline.com pointed at the Kwadaso Member of Parliament, Prof. Kingsley Nyarko who allegedly offered the envelope to the officials.

The Electoral Commission has taken immediate steps and has withdrawn the two (2) temporary staff while investigations take place.

“The commission upholds the principles and values of integrity, truth and transparency. These values are reinforced during the training of all temporary staff.

Speaking to the incident, Dr. Quaicoe, stated that until investigations are concluded, the Electoral commission cannot take a conclusive stance on the situation.

He noted that, the appropriate sanctions will be meted out to the culprits after the investigations are conducted.

"For now, we shouldn’t crucify them till we do the investigation and get to the root of it because clearly if you watched (the video), the parcel was being given to them and the people were not ready to take it.

"So it was dropped on the table but when it was dropped, who took it? We don’t know", he added.
