As part of this year 2020 World Kidney Day, Ms. Abigail Ashley of UTV and her Behind My Smiles Project in collaboration with the world kidney day, and friends from various health sectors in Ghana has organized a free medical screening and kidney education at the Santana Market in Tesano - Accra, Ghana.

Their objective was to make kidney education very easy, simple and accessible to all, no matter where you find yourself. With a hashtag #Protectyourkidneysforlife, some of the tests carried out were the two major causes of kidney disease here in Ghana and globally i.e: High Blood Pressure and Diabetes, Kidney function test using Urine sample, BMI, among others which were done by Life from 30 and Family Life Natural Health Centre.

There was also One on One diet counseling with a Senior Dietician at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Abdul Aziz Mahama (RD) and his team.

Patrons also enjoyed some free stretch massages from BHEK Theracare and refreshments were served by Marigold Hope Center. It was a fully-fun packed screening.

Kidney disease currently affects around 850 million people worldwide. One in ten adults has chronic kidney disease (CKD). Chronic kidney disease is a major cause of catastrophic health expenditure. 7. Don’t take over-the-counter anti-inflammatory/pain-killer pills regularly
8. Get your kidney function checked.
