As part of activities to introduce and familiarize himself in the region as Bono East Regional Minister, Hon Kwasi Adu-Gyan, on Friday, 9th April, 2021, paid a courtesy call on the Omanhene of Techiman Traditional Council who doubles as the Council of State Member for the Bono East Region, H. E. Oseadeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV at his palace.
Oseadeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV and his elders took turns to welcome, advise, suggest, and praise the Minister for his visit and the vision he intends to accomplish and also assured him of their full support to succeed.
The President of the traditional council, Oseadeyo, appealed to the Minister to solicit for the establishment of a High Court in the region and also help in solving the numerous chieftaincy issues which is preventing most of the Traditional Councils in the region from functioning. According to Nana, only 5 out of the 19 traditional councils in the region are effectively working due to the unresolved disputes.
Nananom also advised the Minister to be wary of sychophants, political and traditional pressures, detractors, and other unseen forces that exists.
Oseadeyo again urged the Minister not to depend on misinformation that may be purported to have come from Nananom but rather finds the veracity of such information before acting on it. He cited an instance where his order to ban Okada business in the business center of the capital was misconstrued as Nana was rather sacking northerners from Techiman knowing very well that, Okada business is associated with any specific groups of people.
The Minister was also praised for the role he played in getting the region created.
On his part, Mr Adu-Gyan thanked the chiefs for their prior endorsement when he was nominated by the President and subsequently becoming the second Minister for the new region. He also acknowledged the role played by the chiefs more especially for conceiving the idea of getting the Bono East Region created.
The Hon Minister, appealed to Nananom to release land for commercial farming which is one of his four planks in ensuring accelerated development in the region and beyond.
He assured Nananom and the people of the region, that his office is ready to work to realize fruition of the unharnessed resources in the region which were put together as part of the qualifications for the creation of the region.
They also met with the staff of Techiman Municipal Assembly and assured them of his support for them to continue to deliver even beyond their mandate.
He urged them to adapt to the new ways of doing things especially in the area of revenue generation where digitization is becoming a requirement for DPAT assessments.
