Prepaid Credit: ECG Must Sit Up! - Prof. Joseph Osafo

Senior Psychologist at the University of Ghana, Professor Joseph Osafo says the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) should be given a tough competition by decentralizing power supply in the country.

Professor Joseph Osafo believed not making ECG the sole distributor of the electricity across the nation will make the company serious with its operations.

Electricity users were left in a state of uncertainty in the last five days.

They couldn't buy electricity due to what the ECG says was a technical challenge and due to this challenge, long queues could be seen at the vending centers as well as the company's offices.

Speaking on "Kokrokoo" morning show on Peace FM, Prof. Osafo was of a strong view that having other companies play an ancillary role in the power sector will mitigate the ECG problems.

"It's about time that we have a competition in our power distribution. It will increase efficiency...It will force ECG to sit up!", he said.
