Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has hit hard at the NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama for disrespecting the Clergy but yet seeking their prayers.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh's campaign in the Ashanti Region continued in Afigya Kwabre South constituency where he continued his stakeholders engagement with the Clergy, Chiefs and leaders of the Islamic community at Afrancho, a town within the constituency.
According to him, the former President is without shame, stressing this is why Ghanaians cannot trust such a person to lead them against.
He questioned the logic behind Mahama's calling the religious leaders "hypocrites" for praying for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, yet the same person will kneel and ask for their prayers.
"He (Mahama) said that wherever I go Pastors are praying for me and offering me their blessings, Chiefs are praying for me and Imams are praying and offering their support to us and that makes all of them hypocrites. Less than a week later he went to kneel for prayers.
"Two days after saying that he was at a certain Chief's palace for prayers. A disrespectful person or someone who has nothing good to offer does not even care if the nation runs into a ditch", Dr. Opoku Prempeh said.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh said that former President Mahama is not the leader Ghanaians can trust because of his choice of words which breed violence and division instead of promoting peace.
Meanwhile some of the religious leaders praised the NPP's campaign approach of seeking the face of God before Pastors wherever they go.
Rev. Matthew Ofosu of the Christian Light Church, Afrancho, who spoke on behalf of the Clergy said such an act shows that the party has God in all their endeavours.
"As Pastors, we are supposed to lead with truth and honesty. If nothing at all, we all know the implementation of the Free SHS policy and how it has benefited all Ghanaians...It is not always that we see politicians meeting Pastors wherever they go; this shows that they have God in their hearts", Rev. Ofosu stated.
The Chief of Bomso, Nana Osei Akoto lauded the NPP for its development projects in the Kwabre area.
