Residents Lament Over Deplorable State Of Market

Residents of Ahomahomasu in the Fanteakwa North District of the Eastern region has expressed much displeasure over the state of their market.

Despite numerous appeals to authorities to address the situation, residents claim the market has not seen any significant facelift leaving traders at the mercy of the weather and continuous ordeal of overcrowding during market days.

The Ahomahomasu market plays a significant role in the revenue mobilization of the Fanteakwa North District Assembly as traders from many parts of the country visit the area to transact businesses, basically purchase of food items.

However, the condition of the market is very bad, which residents and traders complained that, either raining or shinning, they have no option rather than to stay and endure the pains until they finish with their activities on the market.


According to them, the situation is impacting negatively on their livelihoods as they are not able to get a fair price for their produce, since they're unable to stay longer due to the unfriendly nature of the market.

Speaking in an interview with, the Assemblymember of the area,  Fiabor Kwame Theophilus, said the only structure started by the Member of Parliament for the Fanteakwa North Constituency, Amankwah Asiamah was abandoned immediately the 2020 elections were over and traders continue to suffer on the market.

The District Assembly has also turned a blind eye to the situation.
